The winter sport break is soon here: five tips to make your trip easier

2019-02-20, kl. 09:46

During the winter sport break, there are more travellers at the airport since many people take the opportunity to fly to the fjells in northern Sweden or to ski resorts abroad. Here are five smart tips that will save you time and make your visit to the airport as smooth and comfortable as possible.

1. Swea Chatbot

Monitor your flight and get updates straight to your mobile phone if details change. You can also get answers to your questions about services at the airport, for instance, “Which restaurants can I find at Stockholm Arlanda?” Send a message via the airport’s Facebook page or using the Messenger app (search, for instance, for “Stockholm Arlanda Airport”). You can also click on the Messenger icon on the airport’s website. Swedavia’s Swea chatbot responds right away, 24 hours a day.

2. Get to the airport well in advance

When there are a lot of people flying out at the same time, it’s a good idea to get to the airport well ahead of time. Ask your airline what they recommend for your flight. There may be queues on the way to the airport or delays in public transport. Also keep in mind that many passengers have skis with them, which means that check-in can take longer.

3. Check in your skis

One of the most frequently asked questions during the winter sport break is how to check in skis. You’ll get an answer to that question in this video: How to check in your skis (in Swedish).

4. Attach your bag tag

Another frequently asked question is how the bag tag should be attached to your bag for automated check-in. If you’re not sure, take a look at this video: How to attach your bag tag

5. Waiting times at the security checkpoint

Keep an eye on the current waiting time at the security checkpoint, which is shown on the airport’s website, in Swedavia’s app and on monitors at the security checkpoints. You can also ask Swedavia’s chatbot how long the queue times are.
