Open Sky – track aircrafts departing and arriving at Stockholm Arlanda
Stockholm Arlanda Airport presents Open Sky, an installation where information about the airport's air traffic is projected onto a two meter diameter globe, using three-dimensional projection mapping.
Open Sky lets you track every aircraft departing and arriving at Stockholm Arlanda Airport or en route to any of the destinations that you can reach directly from the airport.
The installation is made up by data from Flightradar24, a global flight tracking service that provides you with real-time information about thousands of aircraft around the world. Everyday the service tracks more than 150 000 flights, giving you information about position, altitude, speed and much more.
This is the first time ever that projection mapping technique is used in an airport. Open Sky is located inside the departure hall at Terminal 5 and will become a permanent installation at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
