During the summer, Stockholm Arlanda Airport had the highest on-time performance among Europe’s largest airports, according to Eurocontrol. This meant that more passengers were able to begin their journeys as planned during the busiest travel period of the year.

For those travelling on holiday, visiting family and friends, or travelling for business, on-time departures are an important part of the travel experience. Thanks to close collaboration between the airport’s stakeholders, more passengers were able to travel according to schedule during the summer.

“We are proud to offer our passengers an airport where flights depart on time. This contributes to a better travel experience from start to finish,” says Mats Johannesson, President and CEO of Swedavia.

An important part of this effort has been a shared focus on morning departures. When the first flights of the day depart as scheduled, the risk of delays and knock-on effects throughout the rest of the day is reduced, helping to ensure a smoother travel experience for passengers.

Eurocontrol’s analysis covers Europe’s 40 busiest airports during the period from 1 June to 31 August. Stockholm Arlanda Airport ranked first, with an on-time performance of 82.1 percent.
