Ongoing development projects
Passenger boarding bridges and aircraft stands
The apron area outside SkyCity, where aircraft are parked at the gates between gate areas C and D, is being upgraded. Once the refurbishment is complete, the airport will have a modern infrastructure designed for both current and future air traffic. New passenger boarding bridges, the walkways connecting the gate to the aircraft will be built, improving accessibility for travelers with reduced mobility. Airport employees will also benefit from a new and better-adapted working environment.
During the refurbishment of the apron area, aircraft will not be able to park there and will instead be directed to other locations. To accommodate the need for additional aircraft stands and gates, a new separate building is available for use while the reconstruction work is underway. In some cases, passengers will need to take a bus from the gate to their aircraft. Work on the first phase of the refurbishment began in autumn 2024 and is expected to continue for approximately two years.
