Göteborg Landvetter Airport to double hotel capacity with new Scandic Landvetter – new opportunities for meetings and conferences

On May 31, the new hotel Scandic Landvetter, located close to the terminal, will open at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. As a result, the number of hotel rooms at the airport will double and at the same time provide brand-new opportunities for various meetings and conferences at the airport itself.

Work on the hotel began as early as 2016 as part of the development of Göteborg Landvetter Airport and of Airport City Göteborg, which provides warehouse and logistics facilities, offices, hotels, retail space and workplaces immediately adjacent to the airport.

“We are certainly very pleased that Scandic Landvetter is now opening its doors just in time as the world starts to open up and air traffic and travellers can start returning. Scandic is a really nice addition in our work to develop the airport experience for the travel of the future. It helps to create good access and attractive meeting places for all of western Sweden,” says Anna Strömwall, airport director, Göteborg Landvetter Airport at Swedavia.

The new hotel offers 10,000 m² of space over seven storeys with a total of 223 hotel rooms and 9 conference rooms with the possibility of handling up to 140 guests. The plan is to have the hotel property’s environmental performance certified according to the standards of the highly rated international BREEAM-SE certification scheme, with the goal being a Very Good rating. Landvetter Airport Hotel, with some 180 rooms, already operates at the airport.

Swedavia agreed the sale of the hotel property project to Midstar Hotels in 2018, in line with the airport operator’s strategy to create and realise value through property development for reinvestments in the airports’ competitiveness.

About Airport City Göteborg
The Göteborg Landvetter Airport of the future will be developed to create sustainable growth for Sweden. Airport City Göteborg is now taking shape between the terminal and Route 40. A motorway services area, an express railway terminal and a warehouse facility have been set up in the area. There is good demand for modern, efficient logistics properties. In the last year alone, four new companies set up operations there.

The development of Airport City Göteborg is planned to continue for many years. Swedavia has 1.5 million km² of land for the development of warehouse facilities, logistics, offices and retail operations. In the long term, it is expected that about 10,000 jobs will be created at the airport.
