Swedavia's Traffic Statistics for July 2026: International air travel continued to grow – record number of international passengers at Arlanda in July

Demand for international air travel continued to increase across Swedavia’s ten airports during July, and Stockholm Arlanda Airport recorded the highest number of international passengers ever for a month of July. At the same time, domestic travel declined, primarily as a result of reduced supply. In total, just over 3.3 million passengers travelled through Swedavia’s airports during the month, representing an increase of nearly two per cent compared with July 2025.
As in June, the development was mainly driven by continued growth in international air travel, which increased by four per cent. At the same time, domestic travel declined by 13 per cent, largely due to reduced supply and lower demand. Global developments, particularly the situation in the Middle East, continue to create uncertainty ahead of the autumn season.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Sweden’s largest airport, welcomed just under 2.5 million passengers in July. Total passenger traffic increased by just over one per cent compared with the same month last year. International air travel rose by more than three per cent to just over 2.2 million passengers, while domestic travel decreased by nearly 16 per cent to just over 214,000 passengers. The number of international passengers at Arlanda in July surpassed the previous July record, set in July 2018, by approximately 10,000 passengers.
Göteborg Landvetter Airport, Sweden’s second-largest airport, recorded close to 624,000 passengers during July. This represented an increase of two per cent compared with the same month last year. International air travel increased by more than three per cent to 601,000 passengers, while domestic travel declined by 21 per cent to nearly 23,000 passengers.
Swedavia’s other eight airports showed varied results. Åre Östersund Airport and Malmö Airport both reported positive overall growth, with increases of 178 per cent and 17 per cent respectively compared with the corresponding month in 2025. Domestic travel was the main driver of growth at Åre Östersund Airport, while international air travel drove the increase at Malmö Airport.
Bromma Stockholm Airport recorded a total of just over 7,300 passengers in July, corresponding to five per cent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019.
