2025-03-05, kl. 10:24
In February, a total of just over two million travelers passed through Swedavia's ten airports, which amounts to a one per cent increase in traffic. At the same time, international travel continues to move in a positive direction, with an increase of one per cent, while domestic travel shows a weaker trend. As in previous years, the winter sport holiday brought some travel-intensive days from Arlanda, Landvetter and several regional airports. Since the beginning of the year, the majority of Stockholm's domestic traffic has been concentrated at Arlanda.
The winter sport holiday continued to attract travelers both domestically and internationally and extra charter flights were added via Arlanda to Turin, Salzburg and Grenoble.
In total, more than two million travelers flew via one of Swedavia’s ten airports in February. This amounts to a decrease of two per cent compared to February 2024. When accounting for the leap year effect in 2024, this amounts to a one per cent decrease in traffic.
This corresponds to 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels in 2019. Total international travel increased by one per cent, while domestic travel decreased by ten per cent. At Sweden's largest airport, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, air travel increased overall by just over two per cent compared to February 2024.
Stockholm Arlanda Airport served just over 1.5 million travelers in February, which is an increase of two percent compared to February of last year and 86 per cent of pre-pandemic levels. International travel increased marginally to over 1.2 million travelers, while domestic travel was just over 307,000 travelers.
Göteborg Landvetter Airport served a total of just under 327,000 travelers in February, which is a marginal decrease compared to February 2024. International travel increased by two per cent to 292,000 travelers, while domestic travel decreased 20 per cent to 34,000 travelers. In February, traveler levels at Landvetter were at 75 per cent of pre-pandemic levels.
For Swedavia's other eight airports, traffic growth was mixed. The strongest traffic growth compared to February 2024 was seen at Kiruna Airport and Luleå Airport, both of which increased by 12 per cent.
The weakest traffic trend in February compared to last year was seen at Bromma Stockholm Airport, due to changes in the traffic programme and the airline BRA's collaboration with SAS, which means that BRA has become a subcontractor to SAS at Arlanda.
