Swedavia’s airports offer free parking for dogs on New Year’s Eve

On New Year’s Eve, Swedavia’s three largest airports – Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Malmö Airport – are offering free parking to give frightened dogs the opportunity to celebrate a quiet New Year without the sound of firecrackers and rockets.
Swedavia’s ten airports are there every day of the year for those who want to explore the world – but there’s one day when some just want to crawl as far under the bed as possible. We’re talking, of course, about our four-legged friends who get scared on New Year’s Eve and need to escape to a place where no fireworks are allowed. So Swedavia’s three largest airports – Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Malmö Airport – are opening up their long-stay car parks for free parking for dog owners from 20:00 on New Year’s Eve, 31 December, until 01:00 on New Year’s Day, 1 January.
“A couple of years ago we noticed lots of cars driving around containing anxious dog owners and their animals at and around the airport during New Year’s Eve. This gave us the idea of opening up one of our car parks for a few hours on New Year’s Eve,” says Karl Eklund, Airport Director at Swedavia Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
“This will be the third year we have implemented this much-appreciated initiative − dogs are always welcome at our airports,” continues Karl Eklund.
