During January, Swedavia’s ten airports served a total of just over two million travelers. This number is at the same level as January of 2024. The strong trend for international travel and weaker development for domestic travel continue through the beginning of the year. At the end of the month, Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways, also started the process of establishing a brand new direct intercontinental route between Arlanda-Tokyo, further strengthening Swedish connectivity. SAS also started its domestic investment at Arlanda during the month.
“In January, traffic volume was at the same level as last year. At the end of the month, ANA also started its long-awaited investment with a direct route to Japan. We are now continuing our efforts to strengthen Swedish connectivity via Sweden’s largest airport, Arlanda, which is now also Europe’s most punctual airport,” says Jonas Abrahamsson, Swedavia’s President and CEO.
New routes – January and February 2025:
Arlanda – Halmstad with SAS.
Arlanda – Kalmar with SAS.
Arlanda – Sälen with SAS.
Arlanda – Tokyo with All Nippon Airways (ANA).
Gothenburg – Bolzano with Sky Alps.
In total, more than two million travelers flew via one of Swedavia’s ten airports in January 2025. Traffic is therefore at the same level compared to January 2024. At Stockholm Arlanda, air travel increased by five per cent overall.
Sweden's largest airport, Stockholm Arlanda Airport, served a total of over 1.5 million travelers in January. The trend in traffic levels at Swedavia’s eight other airports was mixed in January. Kiruna Airport had the strongest traffic trend in January compared with January of last year and the strongest trend compared with pre-pandemic levels.
Bromma Stockholm Airport had the weakest trend in January compared to January 2024, as a result of changes in airline traffic programmes and SAS and BRA’s new cooperation with investments in Arlanda.
