Ahead of the summer season 2026, Finnair is to expand at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Umeå Airport with one and two new destinations respectively. In addition to their existing offer from Stockholm Arlanda, Finnair will start operating Stavanger in Norway and from Umeå Airport, they will operate Vasa and Helsinki.
Finnair continues to grow its European network and adds three new destinations to its offering for summer 2026 from Swedavias airports. Stavanger, in western Norway, will be operated from Stockholm Arlanda, further strengthening the connection between the two countries. Finnair also responds to the demand for routes to and from northern Sweden by adding routes to Vasa and Helsinki from Umeå Airport. The new routes will strengthen the connectivity to and from Sweden, further enhancing access to the Nordic region.
- Finnair’s investment in additional direct routes from both Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Umeå Airport is a clear sign of the continued high demand for international travel to and from Sweden. The new routes will play an important role in further connecting the Nordic region to Sweden, says Elizabeth Axtelius, Director Aviation Business at Swedavia. Finnair plays an important role in achieving Swedavia's goal of enabling people to meet – whether for business trips, holidays or visits to family and friends, she continues.
Starting on March 29, 2026, Finnair will operate Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) – Stavanger (SVG) with daily departures.
Starting on March 29, 2026, Finnair will operate Umeå Airport (UME) – Vasa (VAA) – Helsinki (HEL) with daily departures.

Swedavia’s work for fossil-free aviation
Swedavia has carried out ambitious climate work for many years. All ten of its airports achieved the goal of zero fossil carbon dioxide emissions from their own operations by year-end 2020. Swedavia also works actively to promote the switch to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and has the goal that five per cent of all fuel used for refueling at Swedish airports shall be fossil-free by 2025. Swedavia’s climate transition work and its pioneering work to operate climate-smart airports have won international awards, and in 2021 the trade organization Airports Council International (ACI) named Stockholm Arlanda Airport Eco-Innovation Airport of the Year. Swedavia offers all passengers flying from one of Swedavia’s airports the option to purchase SAF for all or part of their journey via flygreenfund.se/swedavia.
The Swedavia Group owns, operates and is developing 10 airports throughout Sweden. Our role is to create the connectivity Sweden needs to facilitate travel, business and meetings. Safe, satisfied passengers are the foundation of Swedavia’s business. Swedavia is a world leader in developing airports with the least possible environmental impact. Since 2020, Swedavia’s own airport operations have been fossil-free at all ten airports. In 2024, the group had sales of approximately SEK 6.4 billion and has approximately 2,750 employees.
