Air passenger growth continued in October

Statistics for passenger volume at Swedavia’s airports in October show a 3 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. During the first ten months of the year, passenger volume was up 5 per cent compared to 2015.

In October this year, 3,566,000 passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s ten airports (+3%). The number of international passengers was 2,260,000 (+4%), while the number of domestic passengers was 1,306,000 (+3%).

So far this year, 33,313,000 passengers have flown to or from one of Swedavia’s airports, which corresponds to a 5 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2015.

International passenger volume was up 5 per cent, to 21,949,000. Intercontinental traffic (beyond Europe) showed the largest growth in relative terms, 9 per cent.

Domestic passenger volume increased 3 per cent, to 11,364,000, during the first ten months of the year.

The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations at Swedavia’s airports in October was nearly 20,000, a 2 per cent increase compared to October last year.

Passenger volume in October rose at all of Swedavia’s airports except Bromma Stockholm and Göteborg Landvetter, which both saw a 2 per cent decrease compared to October last year. At Stockholm Arlanda Airport, passenger volume in October was up 6 per cent compared to October 2015. For the year overall, every airport has shown growth in passenger volume except Kiruna (-2%).

Statistical highlights for October:

•Passenger volume at Stockholm Arlanda Airport increased 6 per cent both in October and during the first ten months of the year. Total passenger volume at Stockholm Arlanda for the year passed the 20 million mark in October.

•During the first ten months of the year, passenger volume at Swedavia’s airports increased 5 per cent. Nine of the Group’s ten airports posted growth in passenger volume for the year.
