30 million passengers after three quarters

After three quarters, more than 30 million passengers have flown to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. That is a 5 per cent increase compared to last year.

The number of passengers who have flown to or from Swedavia’s airports between January and September this year was 29,746,000. So far this year, both international (+6%) and domestic (+4) passenger volume is up; 19,688,000 passengers flew internationally and 10,058,000 flew domestically during the first three quarters of the year.

In relative terms, the number of passengers in intercontinental traffic accounts for the largest increase, +9% during the first three quarters of 2016 and +14% in September.

During September, 3,676,000 passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s ten airports, a 3 per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Some 2,377,000 passengers flew internationally (+4%) and 1,299,000 flew domestically (+2%) in September 2016.

The number of landings at Swedavia’s airports in September totalled 20,000, which is a 2 per cent increase compared to last year.

At Stockholm Arlanda Airport, passenger volume was up 5 per cent in September and 6 per cent during the first three quarters of the year, compared to the same period last year. So far this year, 18,623,000 passengers have flown to or from Stockholm Arlanda.

Sweden’s second largest airport, Göteborg Landvetter Airport, also saw increased passenger volume, 2 per cent in September and 4 per cent for the year so far. The total number of passengers at Göteborg Landvetter in the first three quarters of 2016 was 4,858,000.

Bromma Stockholm Airport, in contrast, saw a slight decrease in passenger volume in September, down 2 per cent, but has seen a 2 per cent increase so far this year. 

Of Swedavia’s ten airports, Visby Airport had the highest growth rate, both in September and for the year so far. Some 43,000 passengers flew to or from Visby in September, an increase of a full 11 per cent compared to the same month in 2015. So far this year, passenger volume is up 7 per cent, to 362 000.
