Continued increased passenger numbers at Swedavia’s airports

The passenger numbers at Swedavia’s airports are continuing to increase. During February of 2017, the number of passengers that flew to and from Swedavia’s ten airports increased by 3 per cent compared to the previous year. In total, 2,857,200 passengers flew to and from Swedavia’s airports and six out of the ten airports showed an increase in passengers compared to the same month in 2016.

    At Stockholm Arlanda Airport, the international traffic increased by 6 per cent in February compared to last year.

    A total of 2,857,200 passengers travelled to or from one of Swedavia’s airports in February 2017, which is an increase by 3 per cent compared to the same month last year.

    1,774,300 passengers flew internationally during February, which is an increase by 6 per cent compared to last year. The February statistics for the domestic traffic shows, however, a decline in passenger numbers with 1 per cent compared to February 2016. 1,082,900 passengers travelled to domestic destinations to and from a Swedavia airport.

    In February, the passenger numbers increased at Swedavia’s two largest airports. 1,768,700 passengers flew to or from Stockholm Arlanda Airport during February, which is a 5 per cent increase at Sweden’s largest airport compared to February last year. At Göteborg Landvetter Airport the travel increased by 1 per cent compared to February last year, with a total of 443,100 passengers.

    Other substantial increases in passenger volumes for February:

    • Kiruna Airport, where total passenger volumes increased by 9 per cent (to 30,200 passengers)
    • Ronneby Airport, where total passenger volumes increased by 2 per cent (to 19,000 passengers)
    • Visby Airport, where total passenger volumes increased by 3 per cent (to 26 000 passengers)
    • Åre Östersund Airport, where total passenger volumes increased by 6 percent (to 52,700 passengers)

      In the last moving 12 months, the total number of passengers increased by 5 per cent with a total of 39,849,200. During this 12-month period, domestic traffic increased by 3 per cent while international traffic increased by 6 per cent.

    The three most popular international destinations from Stockholm Arlanda Airport were Copenhagen, London and Oslo. From Göteborg Landvetter Airport, the three most popular international destinations were London, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
