The ground area will be renovated

The ground area outside Sky City, where the aircraft are parked at gates, between gate areas C and D, will be renovated. The ground surface and infrastructure are reaching the end of their service life. When the renovation of this area is complete, the airport will have a functioning, modern infrastructure for present and future air traffic. Airport employees will also have a completely new and more tailored working environment. At the same time, accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility is being improved by creating better conditions for movement on and off aircraft.

While the ground area is being renovated, aircraft cannot park in this area and will be directed to other places. A separate new building with gates is being built to deal with the gates that are lost during the renovation of the ground area. In some cases, passengers will have to take a bus from the gate to their aircraft.

Preparatory work began in early 2024. The first phase, which is planned to last for about two years, will start in the autumn of 2024.
