The agreement with SAS on what is called passenger service means that employees who handled check-in and boarding are now being transferred to Swedavia and will become part of Swedavia’s Passenger Service at the airport.
“Passengers and airlines will continue to get the same good service and warm reception. The takeover of SAS employees and tasks is an important step in our work to offer attractive, flexible comprehensive solutions at all our regional airports. Efficiency and business effectiveness also increase when we have overall responsibility for passenger and airline services,” says B-O Lindgren, airport director at Umeå Airport.
The change means that a total of 10 SAS employees will now be transferred to Swedavia at Umeå Airport. Beginning November 1, passenger service will be coordinated with other Swedavia operations at the airports. This is in line with Swedavia’s strategy to meet the future demand for travel, meetings and business in a way that is long-term and sustainable.
“We work continuously to develop the airport. We work with comprehensive solutions, where employees can provide a number of different services, which leads to more efficient and competitive airports. A flexible organisation is very important as the trend in growing passenger volume continues,” Mr Lindgren notes.
Swedavia is taking over passenger service at five airports: Umeå, Kiruna, Luleå, Åre Östersund and Ronneby.
