Largest aircraft ever to take off from Umeå Airport

2014-02-28, kl. 17:10

On Monday, March 3, at 7.25 a.m. an Airbus A330-200, with Mexico as its destination, will take off from Umeå Airport for the first time.

There has never been a larger aircraft to take off from Umeå Airport, and the fact that it is headed for the popular destination of Mexico makes the event even more special.

“The growing number of direct routes has been a very positive development for Umeå Airport. And now getting to handle an aircraft of this size is exciting and raises hopes of  adding even more flights to exotic destinations from Umeå Airport,” says a proud  Bengt-Ove Lindgren, airport director at Umeå Airport.

The sales director for the tour operator Vingresor confirms that there will be additional service in the future.

“Our service to Mexico is a success, and anyone not flying on Monday will get a new chance next year. We will have a flight departing from Umeå Airport to Mexico on February 24,” says Johnny Nilsen, sales director at Vingresor.

About the flight to Mexico

The Airbus A330-200 to Mexico on Monday will be operated by the carrier Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavias, which is flying on behalf of Vingresor. The plane has seating for 323 people, with 195 of these seats booked by passengers from the Umeå region. The remaining seats have been filled by passengers from Oslo, where the plane will land in transit en route to Mexico.
