Winter Acrobatics meets Åre Östersund Airport

2013-05-17, kl. 09:29

Imagine having an airport as the stage for your art. Today, May 17, an art project will be launched that was carried out by the Jämtland Upper Secondary School’s “Winter Acrobatics” programme in collaboration with Åre Östersund Airport.

The exhibition consists of photo art and moving images inspired by the airport and its environment, from the perspective of winter acrobatics. During the opening day, winter acrobats will be at the airport between 9.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. to exhibit their artwork but also to provide visitors with a different kind of experience.

“It is really exciting to be able to share in the output and energy of these young people. By unleashing their creativity in a different kind of environment, we hope that we contribute both to the development of students and to an even more welcoming atmosphere at our airport,” says Susanne Norman, airport director.

The exhibition will be on display at the airport during the summer but also includes five pieces that the airport has decided to keep as a permanent installation. These works have been printed on 1x1.5 metre screens and will decorate the security checkpoint.
