Rickard Söderberg is Scanian of the Year at Malmö Airport
The colourful social advocate and opera singer Rickard Söderberg has been named Scanian of the Year in Malmö Airport’s Scanian Hall of Fame. He was the clear winner in a vote by readers of the evening newspaper Kvällsposten and on Friday was awarded a place in the airport’s popular portrait gallery.
“It is unbelievably cool and touching to be able to hang with these people. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. I often walk past here when I fly, and now I will be almost a bit embarrassed to walk by. Sometimes I will no doubt stop and make sure the picture is nice and clean,” says a happy Rickard Söderberg.
The honour Scanian of the Year is awarded by the Scanian Flag Day Foundation in partnership with Kvällsposten. Their reason for choosing Rickard Söderberg was as follows: “A great personality with a heart of gold. A fantastic entertainer who spreads joy with his beautiful song.”
“The person named Scanian of the Year must be someone who has done good PR for the province of Scania, has a common touch and has work that reaches out to a broad general public. Readers of Kvällsposten vote for the winner online, and this year there was a really high level of interest – Richard was the clear winner,” says Christer El-Mochantaf, editor-in-chief of Kvällsposten.
“We welcome Rickard Söderberg into the illustrious company of our portrait gallery, the Scanian Hall of Fame. The fact that Rickard is also known for standing up for the equal value of all people makes him a very deserving Scanian of the Year,” says Peter Weinhandl, airport director at Malmö Airport.
