Wizz Air expands service from Malmö Airport to Poland

2014-08-27, kl. 16:23

On March 30 next year, Wizz Air will launch its fourth destination in Poland, Poznan, from Malmö. The carrier will also increase the number of departures to Katowice from three to four a week beginning March 29.

With the new destination, Wizz Air will offer eleven non-stop routes from Malmö. The destinations to Poland from Malmö are Gdansk, Katowice, Poznan and Warsaw. Its other destinations are Belgrade, Budapest, Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Skopje, Sofia and Tuzla.

“We are very pleased to add another route with Wizz Air, which continues to expand its service at the airport. We are seeing a great flow of passengers to and from the Polish market,” says Peter Weinhandl, airport director at Malmö Airport.

Swedes’ interest in both business and leisure travel to Poland has increased in the past year. Wizz Air’s expansion from Malmö Airport contributes to the growth in passenger volume.

“In the past three weeks, Wizz Air has expanded its network to and from Poland with 13 new routes from different European countries. Wizz Air will continue to provide more low-fare service in order to meet the demand for travel from Polish passengers among others,” says József Váradi, CEO of Wizz.

The aircraft type will be an Airbus A320, with seating for 180 passengers. Tickets are available at, among other places, www.wizzair.com.
