Two new international routes from Malmö Airport

2012-10-29, kl. 15:00

Today scheduled service will begin for two new international routes from Malmö Airport. Norwegian Air Shuttle has started flights to Las Palmas and Wizz Air has begun service to Skopje.

This winter Norwegian is expanding its offering from Malmö Airport, launching its first international route. Beginning October 29, Norwegian will fly non-stop to the popular holiday island of Gran Canaria. Flights to Las Palmas will depart every Monday through April.

Gran Canaria is an island that offers everything from culture, good shopping and a wide variety of restaurants to a nice entertainment scene and wonderful beaches. Gran Canaria has a good selection of hotels in different price categories, which makes it really easy for travellers to put together their own holiday using the Internet.

“This is Norwegian’s first international destination from Malmö, and it takes people from southern Sweden to the sun and warmth in winter. We welcome the addition. Our recently published survey, The Traveller, shows that 43 per cent of people in southern Sweden want to head to the sun when they travel on holiday,” says Peter Weinhandl, airport director at Malmö Airport.

Skopje, Macedonia is the sixth destination with Wizz Air from Malmö Airport, and this too is a destination with lots of sun. Beginning October 29, Wizz Air will fly non-stop to Skopje every Monday and Friday. Skopje is located on the river Vadar in a valley surrounded by wonderful mountain scenery. Today the city has about 700,000 inhabitants and offers a range of experiences and cultural activities.
