2016-01-15, kl. 13:11

Luleå Airport has once again passed the one million passenger mark, as recently published passenger statistics for the full-year 2015 indicate. It is the fifth straight year that the airport has topped the one million mark and set a passenger record.

The number of passengers flying in and out of Luleå Airport continues to grow, with air travel up 3 per cent in 2015 compared to 2014. A total of 1,177,443 passengers flew to or from Luleå Airport in 2015.

“Our upward trend continues, and we are really pleased that we have once again exceeded last year’s passenger volume. It is particularly gratifying that international traffic has experienced such sharp growth, increasing 5 per cent. More than 108,000 passengers chose to fly non-stop to warmer climates from the airport, which is a record. This year, we offer three new destinations, one departure each to Mauritius and Jamaica and three departures to Sardinia, which is very good news,” says Ann-Christin Viklund, airport director.

Luleå Airport’s good passenger growth shows how strong a demand there is in the region for the access that air travel creates for residents, development and growth.

“We work closely with participants in the businesses community and the travel sector to contribute to regional growth and the development of routes, which is an important part of this work. Domestic traffic increased 3 per cent compared to last year, from 1,037,016 to 1,177,443 passengers. Luleå Airport is a modern international airport that our customer like, which is reflected in our customer satisfaction surveys, with 85 per cent satisfied customers,” Ms Viklund concludes.

A total of 1,177,443 passengers flew to or from Luleå Airport in 2015, which is a 3 per cent increase compared to 2014, when that figure was 1,140,244 passengers.

The number of international passengers increased 5 per cent, from 103,228 to 108,043 passengers.

Domestic traffic increased 3 per cent, from 1,037,016 to 1,069,400 passengers.
