Domestic traffic was up 2 per cent in August, from 80,974 to 82,291, while international traffic was up 20 per cent, from 10,436 to 12,572 passengers.
“We are very pleased about the increase in traffic, and we are optimistic about the growth in passengers flying to and from Luleå Airport. One favourable development is that summer traffic with non-stop service continues to rise, which indicates that we are an attractive airport for charter operations. We are excited to see what the autumn holds in store,” says Ann-Christin Viklund, airport director at Luleå Airport.
So far in 2014, for the period January to August, the number of passengers flying via Luleå Airport is up 4 per cent, an increase from 722,393 to 750,256 passengers. The number of domestic passengers is up 2 per cent, from 661,981 to 676,481, while the number of international passengers is up 22 per cent, from 60,412 to 73,775.
