Ryanair continues its expansion at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. Beginning April 2, 2019, people in western Sweden will be able to take the airline’s new direct route to Barcelona three days a week. Travel from Gothenburg to this Spanish city has doubled in the past five years.
Ryanair is now launching its third direct route in a week from Göteborg Landvetter Airport. On April 2, 2019, the airline will begin service to Barcelona, flying on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Each year, about 60,000 passengers are drawn to the Spanish destination from Göteborg Landvetter, twice the number just five years ago. Ryanair’s new non-stop service is the third direct route between Barcelona and Göteborg Landvetter.
“We are really pleased to be able to offer our passengers a new direct route to Barcelona, since Spain is our most popular destination from Göteborg Landvetter Airport. A strong economic environment in western Sweden allows a further expansion of Ryanair, which is now launching its third direct route in a week from Göteborg Landvetter,” said Charlotte Ljunggren, Airport Director at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.
“We’re pleased to once again announce a new Gothenburg route. Barcelona is our new route, following already announced Prague and Manchester, commencing in April 2019, which will operate three times weekly as part of our summer 2019 schedule,” said Chris Lundshøj, Sales and Marketing Executive Scandinavia and Baltics at Ryanair.
Travellers in western Sweden can get to Barcelona, with its lively pulse and kilometres of Mediterranean beaches, in a flying time of three hours. In just a few decades, the city has been transformed into the fifth most popular destination in Spain from Gothenburg. Ryanair already flies to the Spanish destinations of Alicante, Malaga and Palma de Mallorca from Göteborg Landvetter Airport.
