Concert amongst the passengers

2013-12-12, kl. 11:23

There were many surprised and happy faces when some forty musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra appeared from all directions and performed live in Göteborg Landvetter Airport’s check-in hall. This musical surprise marked the launch of a collaborative partnership between the airport and the National Orchestra of Sweden.

If anyone missed the performance of Richard Strauss’ work “Also Sprach Zarathustra” in the check-in hall, there is still an opportunity to enjoy classical music performed by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra at the airport.

Through a collaboration between the airport and the symphony, four armchairs fitted with stereo equipment have been placed in the departure hall, where passengers can use a tablet to select from recordings of symphonies. The service is free of charge.

“It’s a really wonderful project and a fun event at our airport. We continue to enhance the passenger experience at our airport, now by also providing space for music. Of course, it is especially great to present our national orchestra to our international visitors at the same time,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, airport director.
