Climate certificate renewed for fourth straight year

2013-12-20, kl. 12:00

Göteborg Landvetter Airport once again has received confirmation that the airport carries out world-class environmental work. The Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, which measures and assesses how airports work to reduce their environmental impact, has renewed Göteborg Landvetter’s certificate at the highest level for the fourth straight year.

ACA certification at the highest level requires, among other things, implementation of a number of practical improvement measures and investments. To manage such extensive work, great dedication and well functioning collaboration throughout the airport are needed.

“Twice a year, all the companies and organisations at the airport meet, and we review action plans and what environmental requirements are placed on operations,” says Maria Gelin, environmental manager at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. “It is a difficult certificate to maintain over time, given that each year we have to reduce emissions. That makes our collective performance even greater.”
A few activities during the year:

  • Increased share of renewable fuel in the diesel for airport vehicles
  • Investment in new wood pellet-burning boilers
  • Measures to increase energy efficiency, including a switch to LED lighting
