2014-07-03, kl. 11:00

The number of passengers at Göteborg Landvetter Airport in June was the highest ever for a single month. The new record is 497,280 people flying to or from the airport in June.

“I just have one comment – wow! We have had a fantastic first six months of the year at Göteborg Landvetter. Demand and supply in the form of new air routes are both on the rise – just in the first six months of the year, we have announced or launched ten new routes. We have won a prize for the best improvement in quality among European airports, and we have merged our domestic and international terminals. It is great to be the head of such a wonderful airport,” says Charlotte Ljunggren, airport director at Göteborg Landvetter Airport.

The total number of passengers increased 3 per cent compared to the same period last year. Up until now, June 2013 held the record for passenger volume. The first six months of the year also show a 3 per cent increase compared to the period January–June last year, and for the first time the total passenger volume passed the 2.5 million mark for the first six months of the year (by a margin of 363 passengers).

A total of 377,158 people flew internationally during the month, which is the highest level recorded for the month of June. That is an increase of 0.1 per cent over the previous record, set in 2013, of 376,915 passengers. Statistics for the first half of the year also show a record for international travel, with 1,795,081 passengers, which is 2 per cent more than for the same period in 2013.

Domestic travel also set a record for the month of June, with 120,122 passengers, an increase of a full 15 per cent compared to June 2013. During the first six months of the year, 705,282 people flew domestically, an increase of 7 per cent compared to 2013.
