Many people want to help out to ease the migrant crisis currently taking place. Through Swedavia’s partnership with Doctors Without Borders and the Swedish Red Cross, a number of options are available to passengers at the Group’s airports who want to make a donation – right now, in this emergency, but also on a continuous basis.
- So far this year, 53 tonnes of recyclable empty cans have been collected from all of Swedavia’s airports, which has generated 300,000 Swedish kronor for Doctors Without Borders.
- Passengers’ lost property is given to the Red Cross, which they pick up, sort, clean and sell in their Kupan shops. This generated some 600,000 kronor from December 2014 to July 2015.
- At Stockholm Arlanda and Göteborg Landvetter, there are collection boxes where passengers can donate leftover currency after their trip. In 2014, the currency collection boxes provided 1.2 million kronor in donations to the Red Cross.
Swedavia works in close, long-term collaboration with the Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders, and is involved in the organisations’ activities, so that it can best contribute to worthwhile efforts through these organisations and with each other.
