Classification of Bromma Stockholm Airport approved

2013-12-20, kl. 12:30

On December 19, the Swedish Transport Agency announced that Swedavia’s application to classify Bromma Stockholm Airport as 3C was approved. The decision means that the continued development of the airport is assured and that the work to create opportunities in nearby areas can continue.

All airports are classified into different categories that specify what operations may be carried out. This includes classification of what kinds of aircraft are permitted to take off and land at the airport.

The Swedish Transport Agency has now decided, in agreement with Swedavia’s application, to classify Bromma Stockholm Airport as 3C instead of today’s 2C.

The decision means that the agency has accepted a procedure whereby the possibility of developing mostly Stockholm, Solna and Sundbyberg as required will be decided area by area. This ensures the continued development of the airport as well as continuing work to create opportunities in nearby areas.

The decision also means that the exemptions for some types of aircraft through January 1, 2019, that were announced previously have been given a permanent solution.
