As the passenger figures are expected to grow significantly at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Swedavia is now adjusting operations in various steps. One of the organisational changes now undertaken is that an agreement with Schiphol International BV has been reached for the remaining shares in the joint venture ASDC (Arlanda Schiphol Development Company). Since previously Swedavia had a 60 percent ownership stake in ASDC, while Schiphol International BV shares represented 40 percent. The agreement has been decided upon in a successful consultation between Schiphol and Swedavia.
- Our cooperation with Schiphol has been very prosperous and has resulted in a large number of competitive establishments at our airports. The expertise that Schiphol has brought into ASDC has been instrumental when building the commercial offer at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and Gothenburg Landvetter Airport over the years. This new agreement is a natural consequence of organisational changes within Swedavia with an increased focus on our commercial business. We also want to leverage synergies with our other operations as well as strengthen the long-term customer satisfaction, says Karl Wistrand, Executive Vice President at Swedavia.
Since 2005, ASDC has been developing offerings in retail, food & beverage at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and at Göteborg Landvetter Airport since 2010.
- We look back at nine successful years, during which Stockholm Airport has made important strides to develop its commercial activities. These include developments in Terminal 5 and, in the past year alone, the renovation of 40 shops, services and food & beverage outlets at Arlanda with highlights in the new Terminal 2 and SkyBridge. In addition, ASDC achieved a milestone in its expansion with the completion of the redevelopment of the international departure hall in 2013 at Göteborg Landvetter Airport. We wish to thank Swedavia for our intense and pleasant cooperative relationship, says Maarten de Groof, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer at Schiphol Group.
Swedavia´s takeover of the remaining shares in ASDC was carried out 2 June and in conjunction with this the company name was changed to Arlanda Development Company AB. The CEO of the company, Roel Huinink, will remain in his role until the 30 June. His successor will be Magnus Ros, Head of Commercial Services at Swedavia, who is appointed CEO from 1 July.
