Everything you need to know before you travel to Stockholm Arlanda
Baggage, transfers, check-in – practical information that will make your visit to Stockholm Arlanda Airport easier.
There are a number of options if you choose to travel by bus to and from Stockholm Arlanda: Flygbussarna, SL-bussar, Regionaltrafik Uppsala, Nettbuss, Bus4You, FlixBus and Y-buss.
If you have a stopover at Stockholm Arlanda and have baggage checked to your final destination, you don’t have to go through security screening again if you’re taking a bus transfer to your new terminal.
Board the bus at Terminal 4 – Gate 30D to travel to Terminals 2 and 5. Request the bus on the monitor at the gate. Check for disembarking gate on the monitor Connecting flights. The bus will arrive shortly. The bus goes in only one direction and is free.
You press the button on the bus transfer display. The bus arrives shortly after.
If you have a stopover at Stockholm Arlanda and have baggage that is not checked to your final destination, you need to check in again. Pick up your baggage, go to the departure hall in the terminal you are flying from and check in at an automated check-in machine or check-in counter.

If you need to go through the security checkpoint, remember that you may only take a limited quantity of liquids in your hand baggage.
The liquids are placed in a resealable transparent plastic bag that holds one litre. Liquids include beverages, creams, gels and sprays.
Each container may hold a maximum of 100 ml.
Remove the one-litre bag with liquids from your hand baggage and place it so that it’s visible in the tray on the conveyor belt in the security checkpoint.
Items found at the airport, regardless of the terminal, are handled by Bagport in Terminal 5 on Level 1. Follow the signs marked “Left luggage” or contact Bagport at telephone +46 (0)10-410 02 00.
The police at Stockholm Arlanda can issue a temporary passport to Swedish citizens. The police station is located at Tullvägen 7.
- Exit SkyCity, walk past Clarion Hotel and take the escalator down.
- Cross the street and continue straight ahead on the walkway between Comfort Hotel and Office One.
- Then follow the signs to the police station (Polishuset).
- Take the pedestrian tunnel under the main road.
- Walk around the Swedaviahuset building and then you’ll see the police station to your right.
It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the police station from SkyCity.
When you are travelling to a country outside the Schengen area, you need to go through passport control. Some countries require your passport to be valid for a given amount of time after you enter the country. You should find out what applies in the country you are travelling to.
Car rental companies are located in Stockholm Arlanda’s car rental area in the P2 Beta long-term car park, except for Sixt, which is located in Swedavia’s P3 Alfa long-term car park. Cars are picked up and dropped off at the relevant car rental company’s facility, unless arranged otherwise.
Be prepared in advance so that things go smoothly when it’s your turn. Have your boarding card ready to show. Place your one-litre bag with liquids so that it’s visible in the tray. Remove your mobile phone, keys and coins from your pockets. Also remove your computer and other electronic devices from your bag.
Taxis are located right outside every terminal. Only environmentally-certified taxis may operate from Stockholm Arlanda.
You can choose from among Arlanda Express, SL commuter and long-distance SJ or Tågkompaniet trains. Passengers alighting and boarding trains at Arlanda Central Station pay a station fee of SEK 120.
Families with children have a quick and convenient entrance to the security checkpoint via the “Kids Track”, located in Terminal 5 by the entrance for Gates F26–F69.
You’ll find a baby-changing station in all terminals in both the men’s and women’s lavatories. If you need a pushchair after check-in, you can borrow a stroller in Terminals 2, 4 and 5. We also have a number of play areas for children.
