The People’s Choice in the Stockholm Hall of Fame

In on-line balloting for the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, Swedes had a chance to choose a famous person they want added to the Stockholm Hall of Fame. All the votes have now been counted, and the winner as People’s Choice is footballer Kennedy Bakircioglu.

Kennedy BakirciogluMidfielder Kennedy Bakircioglu, with the club Hammarby IF, is known for his free kicks, which have led to many spectacular goals over the years. He began his football career with Assyriska FF and joined Hammarby in 1999, where he became a great favourite with fans and was a major contributor to the team’s victory in the 2001 Swedish premier league championship. That same year, he made Sweden’s national team. He has played in a total of 14 international matches at the top level.

Bakircioglu played professionally abroad with clubs in Greece, the Netherlands and Spain but returned to Hammarby in 2012. When the club once again joined the premier league in 2014, after five years at the second highest level, fans voted Kennedy Bakircioglu the team’s Player of the Year.
