US Preclearance – pass through US border control while you are still at Stockholm Arlanda

Swedavia has applied for permission to introduce US border control at Stockholm Arlanda and has been selected by the US authorities as a candidate for more thorough assessment.

US Preclearance – pass through US border control while you are still at Stockholm Arlanda

So in 2019 it may be possible to carry out US border control at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, which means passengers will be approved and able to enter the US since they have already had their documents inspected, gone through US customs and completed security screening at Stockholm Arlanda, a process known as preclearance. As a result, travel would be even smoother and strengthen the connection between Stockholm Arlanda and destinations in the US, which would benefit not just leisure travellers but also airlines and businesses.

The US authorities have not yet made a final decision, but if we are granted permission to introduce US border control at the airport, Swedavia expects that facilities can be built within 12 to 18 months.
