ZagrosJet to Stockholm Arlanda

2013-10-11, kl. 14:44

On Friday morning, the Kurdish carrier ZagrosJet launched its non-stop service between Erbil International Airport in Iraq and Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The new route will be operated twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.

ZagrosJet, which is the first official Kurdish airline, is the third carrier flying to Erbil, Iraq, from Stockholm Arlanda. The two others are Germania and Small Planet Airlines.

“We are pleased to welcome ZagrosJet to Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Many people in Stockholm and Sweden come from a Kurdish and Iraqi background, and now it will be even easier for them to get to northern Iraq to visit relatives, friends and business contacts,” says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

ZagrosJet was formed in October 2005 by Zagros Group and works in partnership with the Turkish carrier Atlasjet Airlines. On October 2, ZagrosJet flew its inaugural flight from Erbil to Ankara, Turkey.

“Stockholm is not just an important milestone for us as an airline – together with our partners, Kurdish history is also being made. We would like to thank the Iraqi federal government and Kurdistan’s regional government for all their help and support,” says Dr. Krekar Gardi, commercial director at ZagrosJet Airline.

The Stockholm Arlanda–Erbil route will be operated by an Airbus A321 with seating for 200 passengers.
