The number of passengers at Stockholm Arlanda Airport continues to rise. In August, almost 2.2 million passengers flew to or from the airport, which is a five per cent increase compared to August last year. International passenger volume was up five per cent to almost 1.8 million, while domestic volume was up four per cent to just under 400,000.
Passenger volume for the summer increased by more than 235,000 passengers, or 3.7 per cent, compared to June-August 2014. As a result, Stockholm Arlanda Airport is still the Scandinavian airport with the greatest growth.
“The demand for fast, safe transport both within Sweden and between Sweden and the rest of the world continues to rise. In many cases, flights are fully booked, and this large passenger volume will hopefully lead to a further expansion in our offering of departures and destinations,” says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
London was once again the most popular destination in August. With growth of nearly ten per cent compared to the same period in 2014, that leaves number two Copenhagen even further behind, with traffic to that city up only one per cent for the same month.
The number of landings was 9,477 in August, which is essentially the same number as in August last year. Consequently, the trend of ever larger aircraft and more filled seats continues.
