Beginning June 2, the Romanian carrier Tarom will fly to Bucharest, Romania on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays. The route will be served by a B737-700 with seating for 116 passengers.
“It is really nice to welcome Tarom back to Stockholm Arlanda. The Romanian capital of Bucharest is a big and important destination, and now having non-stop service to the city will make many passengers happy, both leisure and business travellers,” says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director of Stockholm Arlanda.
Tarom was founded in 1954 and has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance since 2010. The last time the carrier operated out of Stockholm Arlanda was in 2001. Currently, the largest share of passengers flying between Stockholm and Bucharest are leisure travellers, but since Romania joined the European Union in 2007, the number of business travellers has doubled. Traffic is divided evenly between Swedes and Romanians.
Christian Heinzmann, chief executive of Tarom, notes, “Tarom is one of Romania’s best known brands, symbolising Romanian values and traditions – a carrier that has been the proud national airline of Romania for almost 60 years. I am pleased that we have decided to launch a route between Bucharest and Stockholm, and I hope that our passengers will be pleased to have a new destination such as Stockholm added to our network.”
