Qatar Airways expands its departures

2015-09-08, kl. 14:10

Qatar Airways is increasing its capacity at Stockholm Arlanda during the coming winter season. Three additional flights a week will depart from Stockholm to Doha, with connections to Asia, Africa and the Middle East. That means a total of 13 flights a week, an increase from the current 10 weekly departures.

The number of passengers at Stockholm Arlanda is steadily rising, and that is especially true for passengers to and from Asia. Due to the great demand for flights during the winter season, Qatar Airways is adding capacity in order to offer even more flights during the colder months. From December 2015 to March 2016, three extra departures to Doha are being added, thus increasing the number of flights from 10 to 13 a week.

This expanded capacity gives travellers from Sweden better access to a large network of popular tourist and business destinations via Doha, such as Bangkok, Phuket, Denpasar, the Maldives, Kuala Lumpur, Zanzibar, Colombo, Singapore, Nairobi, Delhi, Johannesburg, Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Muscat.

“Developing existing direct routes is at least as important as attracting new ones. So it is really good news that Qatar Airways is now further increasing the frequency of service from Stockholm Arlanda to Doha. More opportunities to easily reach long-haul destinations improve access and reinforce our vision to be the leading airport in Scandinavia,” says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

The three additional departures will be night flights on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, leaving Stockholm Arlanda Airport at 9:25 p.m. The arrival time in Doha/Qatar is 5:25 a.m. the next day. All flights from Stockholm Arlanda are with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Qatar Airways has grown rapidly in its 18 years of operations and is one of seven airlines awarded five out of five stars according to a ranking by Skytrax, the leading international airline ranking system. Today the carrier flies to 145 business and tourist destinations in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Australia, and North and South America.
