More passengers at Stockholm Arlanda in April

2013-05-08, kl. 18:03

The number of passengers at Stockholm Arlanda Airport increased five per cent in April compared to the same month in 2012. As a result, the negative trend thus far in 2013 turned around, and the number of passengers for the period January–April is on par with that for the same period in 2012.

The passenger trend at Stockholm Arlanda in April turned positive after a slight decline in traffic for the period January–March compared to the same period in 2012. In all, almost 1,690,000 people travelled to or from Stockholm Arlanda in April, which is an increase of five per cent compared to the same month last year.

As before, most of the increase is attributable to international traffic. In April, some 1,250,000 people flew international while almost 432,000 people flew domestic, which is an increase of five per cent for international and four per cent for domestic traffic. The number of international passengers at Stockholm Arlanda increased two per cent for the period January–April compared to the same period in 2012, while the number of domestic passengers fell a total of four per cent for the period.

"It is good news to see that the trend in international traffic remains strong, which attests to Stockholm Arlanda's important role as the gateway to Sweden," says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.

The number of landings at Stockholm Arlanda in April was 9,573, an increase of a full ten per cent compared to the same month in 2012. The total number of landings during the period January–April was 34,505, which is essentially unchanged from the same period last year.
