“The market for long-haul flights has long been dominated by high fares with limited flexibility. The very positive response to Norwegian Air Shuttle’s non-stop service to New York and Bangkok from Stockholm Arlanda shows that there is demand in the Swedish market for good travel options to the US and Asia. We are now continuing our investment in long-haul routes by launching service to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as a new destination with Norwegian from Stockholm,” says Norwegian Air Shuttle’s CEO, Bjørn Kjos.
Stockholm Arlanda continues to work to meet demand from international visitors, who can travel to Sweden more easily with more non-stop flights. This spring, a large number of international brands have set up operations at Stockholm Arlanda, which contributes to the airport’s international character.
“We are delighted that Norwegian continues to invest in Stockholm Arlanda as a Scandinavian hub. The larger number of international non-stop routes contributes in a very positive way to the access to and from Sweden that the tourism industry and business both need,” says Torborg Chetkovich, Swedavia’s CEO.
Norwegian will fly twice a week between Stockholm Arlanda and Fort Lauderdale beginning December 1.
Norwegian is also now beginning to sell winter season tickets to New York and Bangkok from Stockholm Arlanda. The non-stop service will continue as before with three departures a week with travel from November 2013 to February 2014.
