A taste of New York at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

2013-05-31, kl. 15:05

Today is the maiden voyage for Norwegian Air Shuttle’s long-haul service from Stockholm Arlanda to New York. The airport will celebrate this together with Norwegian by offering all passengers a taste of the Big Apple. At Norwegian’s check-in counters in Terminal 5 and at the gate, passengers will be entertained by such acts as a gospel choir and cheerleaders.

In November last year, Norwegian announced its plans for long-haul service from Stockholm Arlanda. This afternoon, the first flight will take off for New York. To celebrate, passengers will be offered a taste of the Big Apple with such acts as the Tensta Gospel Choir and cheerleaders from GF Uppsalaflickorna at Norwegian’s check-in counters in Terminal 5.

Norwegian is in a strong expansion phase, with annual passenger growth of about 30 per cent. In 2008, Norwegian offered 22 domestic and international routes to Swedish passengers. Today the airline has 57 domestic and 69 international destinations from Sweden.

“It is really great that Norwegian is launching long-haul flights from Stockholm Arlanda Airport to New York. More carriers and an expanded offering are good for passengers. There is good potential for developing more non-stop destinations from Sweden, especially since the Stockholm region is the largest market in Scandinavia,” says Kjell-Åke Westin, airport director at Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
