World-leading climate work at Stockholm Arlanda

Some 17,000 people work in about 600 different companies at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The airport is comparable to a small city. Environmental issues have long been given priority, and the airport works in a number of different areas to reduce its environmental impact. Lower carbon dioxide emissions are one of its focus areas.

World-leading climate work at Stockholm Arlanda

Stockholm Arlanda’s climate work is certified today at the highest level of a European programme that assesses how airports work to reduce their environmental impact.

Biofuels are replacing fossil fuels in the airport’s buildings and vehicles while energy efficiencies are continually being implemented. The airport also carries out measures so that as few people as possible are disturbed by aviation noise, the water that runs off the airport’s runways is cleaned, glycol used to de-ice aircraft is collected before take-off, and all waste is sorted and recycled.
