Since 2014, Swedavia has offered drop-in weddings during West Pride in Gothenburg. Last year’s lovefest was a big hit, so there will be two officiants from Swedavia to perform drop-in weddings this year. Susanne Norman, airport director at Åre Östersund Airport, will get backing from Mona Glans, who is airport director at Ronneby Airport.
Swedavia has taken part in Pride festivals across Sweden since 2011 in order to promote the work to ensure that all people have equal rights and value, and its support for LGBT people is an important part of this. The collaboration with West Pride is one way to demonstrate that Swedavia is an employer that is committed to inclusiveness and is convinced that diversity enriches. The drop-in weddings will be held adjacent to Rainbow Park (Regnbågsparken) on Saturday, June 13, 2.00–6.00 p.m. and on Sunday, June 14, 12.00 noon–2.00 p.m.
All couples are welcome, regardless of their sexual orientation. The only requirement is that they have applied for a “Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage” (hindersprövning) with the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket), which should be done well in advance since it usually takes at least two weeks.
