Students and researchers surf securely at Swedavia’s airports

2012-10-19, kl. 10:42

Now students, researchers and other staff at Sweden’s universities and colleges can get simple, secure access to their campus network and Internet service at Swedavia’s eleven airports across the country.

Many students today are taking distance education classes or studying in several locations, while people in the world of research have collaborations between various institutions of higher education. So there is a growing need for a simple, secure connection to their campus network in order to access files, documents and the Internet regardless of where they are. There are no limits on user time and the service is free of charge.

“We know that our passengers appreciate having free WiFi access. Now it is even easier for students and researchers to both work and surf at our airports,” says Michael Persson Gripkow, chief commercial and marketing officer at Swedavia.

Behind the service is a collaboration between eduroam, SUNET (Swedish University Computer Network) and The Cloud. Users log onto the network the same way they do for their campus network.
