During the month of May, about 3.4 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. Total passenger volume was thus up four per cent compared to May last year. That corresponds to a 140,000 increase in passenger volume. There were just over 2.1 million international passengers, which is a seven per cent rise compared to the same month last year.
“The airlines’ investment in additional direct routes is welcomed by passengers and reinforces the view that Sweden is the most attractive air travel market in Scandinavia. Naturally, we also look forward to the launch of another three intercontinental routes this autumn,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.
So far in 2015, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports is up four per cent to almost 14.5 million.
International travel to and from Sweden continues to show strong growth. International traffic increased 7 per cent during the first four months of the year. The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations was more than 18,600 during May, which is a one per cent increase compared to last year.
