Growth in the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports continues to be about twice as large as the European average. As a result of this strong growth, Swedavia’s net profit for the period January-September rose 5.8 per cent to SEK 4,101 M (3,876). Operating profit increased to SEK 1,393 M (758), including extraordinary income of SEK 347 M. Profit before tax was SEK 1,204 M (569).
During the first nine months of the year, 26.9 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. That means continued very steady growth of seven per cent, or almost two million more passengers compared to the group’s record year, 2013, with higher volume in both international and domestic travel. Growth in the Swedish air travel market is thus twice as large as the European average, and Stockholm Arlanda Airport remains the fastest growing airport in Scandinavia.
“The growth in passenger volume creates potential to attract new direct air links, which enhance Swedish competitiveness. Meanwhile, an extensive investment programme is under way to further develop the capacity and atmosphere at our airports,” says Torborg Chetkovich, president and CEO of Swedavia.
