In February, 2.4 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. Passenger volume was thus up seven per cent compared to the same month last year. The number of international passengers was 1.4 million, while the number of domestic passengers was almost one million, which means there was a seven per cent increase in both international and domestic traffic.
“Just like last year, the greatest passenger increase in Scandinavia is taking place in Sweden. We are meeting this expansion with extensive capital spending, including a historical investment in infrastructure at Stockholm Arlanda, which is necessary to ensure continued growth for all of Sweden,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.
So far in 2014, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports has increased by eight per cent to 4.8 million. The number of domestic passengers in January and February was up seven per cent to 1.9 million compared to the same period in 2013, while the number of international passengers has increased by eight per cent to 2.9 million.
The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations at Swedavia’s airports so far this year increased by four per cent to 30,800 compared to the period January-February 2013.
