On Tuesday, December 3, the Red Cross will open a pop-up shop in SkyCity at Stockholm Arlanda Airport. The venture is another activity resulting from the collaboration between Swedavia and the Red Cross. The shop will sell selected garments and charity gift cards as well as spotlight the Red Cross’s operations.
“Swedavia’s business development has a strong connection to our work with social issues. The pop-up shop is a way to highlight our collaboration with the Red Cross in a commercial context. Passengers and employees will be offered a unique and sustainable shopping alternative at the airport for a period of time. Because the shop will also be a channel for different fundraising efforts, this is also a concrete way for us to support the Red Cross’s important work,” says Tove Möller, CSR manager at Swedavia.
The shop will sell charity gift cards as well as clothes, including from its top-of-the-line shop at Hornsgatan 56 in Stockholm. The idea is to provide customers sustainable alternative at Stockholm Arlanda, with specially selected clothing and accessories that can be used right away.
“We are creating a kind of ‘second-hand to go’ for passengers – unique garments, ready to wear,” says Morgan Olofsson, director of communications and fundraising at the Red Cross. “Today’s consumers want to shop second-hand, and with our shop at Stockholm Arlanda we hope to inspire more sustainable consumption, for world travellers as well.”
The pop-up store will initially be open for six months, from December 3, 2013, to May 30, 2014. All sales proceeds go to the Red Cross’s operations.
