More and more people are choosing to fly. During August, passenger volume rose even further at Swedavia’s airports. The number of passengers increased six per cent in August compared to the same period in 2014. International travel was up seven per cent, while domestic travel was up four per cent. A total of almost 3.4 million passengers landed at or departed from one of the Group’s airports, an increase of 195,000 passengers.

During August, almost 3.4 million people flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. Passenger volume was thus up six per cent compared to August last year. Measured in passenger numbers, that is an increase of 195,000. The number of international passengers was more than 2.3 million, which is a seven per cent increase compared to the same month last year. Domestic travel was up four per cent to almost 1.1 million passengers.

“Our work to enhance access within Sweden and beyond is producing good results, and more and more passengers now have the possibility of flying non-stop to their final destination. Domestic travel is also growing, which indicates the need for a continued favourable competitive situation in the Swedish aviation market,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.

So far in 2015, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports has increased five per cent to 24.7 million.

International traffic was up seven per cent during the first eight months of the year. The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations was just over 17,000 in August, which means an increase of two per cent compared to last year.
