The number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports increased nine per cent in March compared to the same month in 2013. A total of almost 2.9 million passengers flew to or from one of the Group’s ten airports, which is an increase of 230,000. Domestic air travel in March was up by a full eleven per cent to 1.2 million.

In March, almost 2.9 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. Passenger volume was thus up nine per cent compared to the same month last year. The number of international passengers was 1.7 million, while the number of domestic passengers was almost 1.2 million. That corresponds to a seven per cent rise in international traffic and eleven per cent in domestic traffic.

“We are especially pleased about the sharp growth in domestic travel. That shows that the growing number of international flights from our airports also benefits domestic traffic and that the moves airlines have decided to make are greatly appreciated by passengers,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.

During the first quarter of the year, passenger volume at Swedavia’s airports increased eight per cent to just over 7.7 million. The number of domestic passengers was up nine per cent to 3.1 million compared to the same period in 2013, while the number of international passengers was up eight per cent to 4.6 million.

The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations at Swedavia’s airports so far this year has increased six per cent to 49,000 compared to the period January-March 2013.
