In June, just over 3.4 million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s airports. The total number of passengers was thus up eleven per cent compared to June last year. Measured in passenger numbers, the increase was almost 350,000. The number of international passengers was 2.3 million, an increase of nine per cent compared to the same month last year. Domestic travel rose even more, with 1.1 million passengers during the period, an increase of fifteen per cent compared to the same month last year.
So far this year, total air travel at Swedavia’s airports has increased eight cent. International travel is up nine per cent overall while domestic travel is up seven per cent, compared to the first six months of 2013.
“We see sharp growth in travel to and from our airports, both international and domestic. That indicates how important Sweden’s access to effective air connections is. A key part of this rising trend is the increased offering of non-stop destinations,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.
So far in 2014, from January to June, the number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports has increased eight per cent to 17.3 million. The number of international passengers thus far this year is up nine per cent, to 10.7 million overall, while the number of domestic passengers is up seven per cent to 6.6 million.
The number of landings in scheduled and charter operations during the year, from January to June, has increased four per cent to almost 103,000 compared to the same period last year.
