Continued passenger growth in August

The number of passengers at Swedavia’s airports increased seven per cent in August compared to the same period last year. As a result, the number of passengers at the ten airports was up 600,000 or three per cent compared to 2012. International travel showed the biggest gain, with a increase of ten per cent in August.

During August, almost thee million passengers flew to or from one of Swedavia’s ten airports, an increase of seven per cent compared to the same period last year. The number of domestic passengers was up two per cent to 950,000, while the number of international passengers was up ten per cent to 2,030,000.

“We see continued strong demand for efficient connections both within and beyond Sweden’s borders. Growth also creates conditions to attract further connections, and we have recently had positive news from a number of airlines,” says Torborg Chetkovich, chief executive of Swedavia.

In August, the number of landings in scheduled and charter operations at Swedavia’s airports was 16,600, which is a six per cent increase over the same month in 2012.

Thus far in 2013 (January-August), close to 22 million passengers have flow to or from one of Swedavia’s airports, an increase of three per cent compared to the same period in 2012.
